A couple of weeks ago, I had the opportunity to shoot yet another amazing proposal out at Hanalei Bay. I was contracted by Veronika at Ali`i Kauai weddings to be the photographer. Veronika was hired by ‘Brian’ to bring his vision to reality. Brian had the brilliant plan to propose to his girlfriend, ‘Jennifer’, standing amidst flowers on one of the most beautiful beaches in the world as the setting sun lit the sky on fire. Add a Hawaiian musician playing his chosen song in the background, and it was sure to make her heart melt.

It was a brilliant plan on paper but a lot of things had to fall in place for it to work perfectly. It was supposed to happen yesterday but the bad weather made us cancel it. So here we were waiting to board the helicopter with a young beautiful couple. It was either happening today or we had to go back to the drawing board and come up with something entirely different. John(name changed) had planned this weeks in advance.

Back in February, Danny inquired if I was available to do a maternity photoshoot for his girlfriend. Pretty straight forward right? No.He then told me his secret plan to propose to her during the photoshoot.Two weeks later, I met Danny and his girlfriend Meg at Hanalei bay on a beautiful evening. Meg was all excited about the shoot and was wearing a beautiful teal dress that showed off her baby bump perfectly. The photoshoot turned out to be perfect excuse for Danny to suggest make up and flowers to the unsuspecting Meg. She even had a second dress for the shoot.

On a beautiful evening in Hanalei, I was hiding in the bushes ready to shoot at the right time. Crouching beside me was A.T. with his guitar, Joel with the video camera and Veronika, the co-ordinator of this surprise proposal.About twenty feet away from us was perfect circle of flowers on the beach. It attracted attention of the people passing by it. We just hoped that no one decided to camp in or around it.

On a beautiful spring evening, Augustine took his girlfriend, Monserrat, for a walk on the pristine Ke’e beach. As they were enjoying their stroll, they stumbled upon a circle of flowers on the beach. Augustine took Monserrat’s hand and led her into the circle. Before she could realize what was happening, he looked deeply in her eyes and got down on his knees. The look on her face was priceless.
